RTE Drama Department commissioned Saffron Pictures to produce the TV drama series. Love is the Drug was broadcast in autumn 2004 to critical acclaim and great audience ratings.

Love is the Drug is the winner of the 2005 Irish Film and Television Award for best TV Drama/TV Drama Series.
